El fin

Today we had what turned out to be our LAST Tiny-K visit! WOOOOOOOOOO!!! We're so very happy because it means Adele is a-ok. Steve and I already knew that, but it's nice to be released from the program and have it be official. The OT is going to speak with Adele's doctor about whether or not we NEED to have another swallow study done. Staci, the OT, and Steve and I are all on the same page that we don't feel it's necessary. Adele has been on all unthickened liquids for more than a month, and is doing just fine. I hate to expose her to more radiation for something that isn't a "must" and we all agreed that kids tend not to perform as well in these tests since they're anxious about being in a new place, different environment, etc. We'd hate to have her "fail" simply because of the surroundings, when we're fairly certain she's fine. Make sense?

Anyway, it's alllll good news. We're going to transition over to their Ages and Stages program insstead. They'll mail us a sheet every so often that we'll use to mark her development, and if they see any red flags they'll schedule something.

Even though she's still not technically "caught up" to her actual age, there are absolutely no concerns about her catching up eventually. So, no more Tiny-k, no more Children's Mercy, no more thickener. It's all "normal" kid stuff from here on out! YAY!

Congratulations! Even though you and Steve knew Adele was fine, I can understand the feeling of relief when the experts agree. Yahoo!

As to your earlier post, Noah just moved from his toddler bed to a "big bed." Oh how it tugged the heartstrings to see all his baby furniture being put into storage. Now he wants his nursery decorations to come down and a more big boy look. Ahh, what happened to my baby?!

They do grow up fast don't they?

YAYAYAYAY!

I think it's a little unfair to make her "catch up" anyway... :)

Glad to see that she's doing great!

I had a moment of worry that this was the last blog post. Since I don't get to see her or you very often, I look forward to the video and stuff that goes up here.

Best!

Jenn

awww thats great!!! Way to go Adele!

We are probably going to start speech therapy soon. Its not that Anthony doesn't have a good vocab, its that sometimes it sounds like his words get stuck in his throat. Which is probably related to his BPD/CLD. But at least its something that will go away. But it feels wonderful to have a pretty much "normal" kid.

How exciting! She's a real girl (said like Pinocchio)...
Normal is good! We do ages and stages with our normal pediatrician. He requires it for certain well-baby visits.

Yay Adele!!! No more thickener! That must be the greatest part.

Darrah,
I'm so happy to hear all the good news about Adele! I know we have lost touch, but I do I think about you guys on an almost daily basis (in a non-stalker type way, hahaha). With everything you, Steve, and Adele have overcome, you are truly an inspiration to me.
